The below e-tool link specifically gives general information that can be used by those designing forklift training or managing operators
OSHA 29 CFR 1910.178 is a formal statement of the rules for regulatory safety compliance related to powered industrial trucks (forklifts). When viewing this, pay special attention to paragraph 1910.178(l)(6) Certification.
"The employer shall certify that each operator has been trained and evaluated as required by this paragraph (l). The certification shall include the name of the operator, the date of the training, the date of the evaluation, and the identity of the person(s) performing the training or evaluation."
OSHA cites nearly a thousand companies a year for not keeping the required records. LIFTOR research has demonstrated that 7 out of 10 companies cannot produce required documentation after the three year certification cycle expired...if they can produce it at all. This can create unnecessary pain during an OSHA investigation or a personal injury case.
A "Docket" is simply a storage place, like a file folder, for all the documents used by the courts to decide some issue. In the Federal Government of the United States, the Department of Labor's, OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Agency) produced a docket. US DOL Docket S-008 contains all records, public comments, Notices, research paper, the extensive hearing transcript, etc.; All related to making the latest powered industrial truck operator training rule. Use search word "1910.178" to view each of the official records. ALL are downloadable:
