Across the world of forklifts, much of the training, engineering, management practices, and company policies do not share a common and effective action-philosophy. As a result:

• Your company may suffer from a common myth: "Safe operation means S-L-O-W operation!" (Truth: You want, and can have BOTH safety and speed!)
• Your operators and pedestrians can get seriously injured or killed.
• Your company might be misguided by well-meaning outside consultants; not understand regulatory requirements; find them hard, or too costly to implement; or ignore them altogether.
• You believe you would benefit from a membership community that shares a common perspective for recognizing hazards, and quickly responding to them.

The LIFTOR mission? A community of in-house users applying a simplified, learnable, and practical "Forklift Action- Philosophy" to guide their actions:

• Standardize and guide training, and management practices of all things "forklift".
• Provide a web-based resource for useful information.
• Provide an archive and clearinghouse for SHARING LIFTOR MATERIALS, and derivative works developed by its members for its members.

The LIFTOR Forklift Action-Philosophy is an applied philosophy; based upon empirical research into Human Performance:

• A practical philosophy of human competence was described by Thomas F. Gilbert in "Human Competence: Engineering Worthy Performance".
• Many Companies and government institutions already have objective, useful and effective methods, procedures, and practices for improving human performance at the organizational, process, and individual levels.
• The LIFTOR Forklift Action-Philosophy has captured much of this. The LIFTOR structured thinking, the standardized procedures, the useful checklists, training, and management practices borrow from those giants upon whose shoulders our community stands.
